Thyme is a member of the mint family and is similar to oregano in it’s growth habits. Thyme is mainly grown in Spain and France. It blends well with other spices, especially rosemary. It is an aid to the body in the digestion of fatty foods. It is an excellent in any slow cooked dish (think crock pot), especially soups and stews. Thyme is also very flavorful in baked vegetables, tomato-based sauces or on plain rice.
Thyme is also easy to grow in the garden or indoors in a pot on your windowsill. You can purchase thyme seeds at Baker Heirloom Seeds or buy a plant from your local nursery in the spring. I prefer to purchase a plant from my local nursery in the spring and bring the plant indoors for the winter.
